Kai - Live @ The Oriental Theatre

Here comes the latest installment of that Eastern Fusion Funk! Back by popular demand!
This mix kicks off with a trance-inducing exotic time signature, courtesy of Kaya Project's musical studies with the desert cultures of the world. From there, we enter a wild, wild whirlwind amongst a trinity of heavy-hitting world fusion producers: Govinda, David Starfire and Radiohiro. My new personal favorite, that I just got my hands on, is Govinda's Universal On Switch, which drops 19 minutes in. After getting our funked-out cultural immersion thoroughly on, we dive into some low-level heat and crank up the bass massage. Gotta let that otherworldly education sink in deeply between the cells and into the nano-nooks of the soul core. A special shoutout to Japan here, keep an ear out for the Zen flavor. After paying our respects, we return back across the Pacific with some western anthem-style dancefloor truth. Finally capping it off with a thick psy number from Bird of Prey.
This set comes to you courtesy of a fundraiser in Denver, Colorado for an upcoming Burning Man installation entitled The Zenith Project. The fundraiser series is called Zenlightenment, and the installation will be a zen garden and meditation dome. Keep an eye out for it, all you playa-bound folk...

Kai - Entheon Peaktime Set

This set is the epitome peak experience of my entire Burn this year, and quite possibly all Burns not only past, but combined. The international fire spinning troupe, the Pyronauts, were performing to live drumming next to the stage when they handed the floor to me. So I was playing this set, accompanied by live drums and with the talent of world class fire spinning rockin it home! 22 piece drum troupe led by Jonah Kai and at least 50+ fire spinners in rotation, so it was a collaborative moment of wild proportions, and there I was at the root of it, hands flying the dials of the sonic spaceship.
This set basically struts it from beginning to end. Its hot, sexy, bangin. The fire's a burnin in this one for sure! It pretty much hovers at 140 bpms the entire time. I threw a hint of glitch and a tiny chunk of crunk into this brew to spice the flavor just right. Crank this one in the car, or any place you can get away with it real loud, and see how stylie and smilin you be arrivin...

Kai - Entheon Warmup Set

This set contains my favorite of all time intros. There's a vapour swirling towards you... and when the tablas hit, its like this timeless intelligence from far beyond the veil appears to bless you with its presence.
This set overall is smooth, melodic, feminine, subtle, sensual, dubby, gentle, with just enough drive to charm the serpent fire into movement. It starts around 80 bpms and gradually climbs to 110 bpms. The sweat was just ripe enough on the dance floor to be glistening in the pores, by the time this puppy was done. Plus, the glitched out sitar towards the end is an extra special treat.
